CultureIdentification will be performed, if appropriate, at an additional charge. Susceptibility will be sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories at an additional charge.
Specimen Requirements
Call Chilton Hospital Microbiology Laboratory at 973-831-5000, ext. 5670 to obtain media.
Specimen Type: Varies
Container/Tube: Screw-capped, sterile container
Specimen Volume: Entire specimen
Collection Instructions:
1. Place specimen in container.
2. Whenever possible, plate directly onto appropriate media.
3. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and source of specimen.
Additional Information: Specimen source is required.
