Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Varies
Container/Tube: Slides and container with CytoLyt preservative
Specimen Volume: Entire specimen
Collection Instructions:
1. Using needle and syringe, aspirate specimen.
2. Use a pencil to label slide with patient’s name.
3. Prepare slides by pressing specimen on right side of slide and spray immediately with Cyto-Fix, and/or fix slides in 95% alcohol.
4. Place slides in plastic slide container.
5. Rinse syringe (aspirated material) into container with CytoLyt.
6. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, and source of specimen.
7. Forward promptly.
