Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Stool

Container/Tube: Clean, dry container with a tightly-fitting lid

Specimen Volume: 5 g

Specimen Minimum Volume: Size of 2 peas

Collection Instructions:
1. Collect a random stool specimen.

2. No preservative.

3. Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection, collector’s initials, and type of specimen.

Additional Information:

1. Specimen source is required.

2. Do not submit formed stools, formed stools are not present during active disease state.
